The articles featured in this volume are organized around two major themes: (a) broad issues related to aging, with examples of ways in which parishes have responded or could respond to the demands of aging, and (b) issues related to health care decisions and other related problems, such as Living Wills or Advance Directives, long-term care facilities and options, and the particular needs of patients with Alzheimer’s Disease and their care-givers.
These articles were originally written over a period of years for inclusion within the “Seniors” section of the Resource Handbook, published by the Department of Stewardship and Lay Ministries of the Orthodox Church in America. While originally written as separate pieces, they have now been gathered together for this volume to provide a single resource for pastors, families, church workers, and those who recognize both the contributions and needs of the senior members of our parishes.
